Arelia Johnson 's work in gender, social inequality, women’s empowerment, teachings on standards of beauty and sexuality all have ONE thing in common…IDENTITY. She is a thought leader and scholar who teaches people to understand and embrace their own identities in relation to their self-perception, sexuality, sexual expression, as well as help people to properly understand and support the identity of others, for better interpersonal interactions, community building, stronger relationships and restored self-esteem.

Experienced Educator and Trainer
Arelia Johnson has worked as an educator, in public school since 2008, cultivating young minds from seventh grade to high school, raised test scores in the most deplorable conditions, and been a community advocate fighting on behalf of parents and students. In 2011, during her tenure at Texas Southern University, Arelia Johnson discovered a massive amount of research about self-esteem, self-worth, and body image. Over the next two years, she found a correlation between self-confidence, identity, and accomplishment and presented her research at the College Language Association’s Conference in New Orleans, La; Ms. Johnson knew then that she was on to something and the information had to be shared. By the fall 2015, Ms. Johnson had published, researched, and presented workshops, from Houston to Philadelphia, extensively on positive self-image, self-worth, and accomplishment, sexuality, gender roles, and performance, and public education. The Owned Project
The Owned Project’s mission is to provide safe and nonjudgmental spaces to women and girls in a variety of forms. Our company is based on three tenets: SELF-LOVE, SELF-ACCEPTANCE, and SELF-HEALING. We believe that in order for individuals to tap into who they are, they must understand their cyclical nature and how every component of their lives is connected. You do not simply participate in an Owned Project event, you experience it.
Our workshops, demonstrations, TALKS, and sessions are all research based and the product of Professor Johnson’s years of study, training and development, and work experience.
